British singer, Calum Scott, recently reached #2 on the British chart with his cover of Robyn’s 2010 song, and now the song has hopped the pond to attempt to bless us with his take on what every other restless chick has done when she’s home alone.
Though a nice ode to the darkness that slowed down pop reveals, it’s not dancey. The original is electronic and paints the song’s lyrics about a Saturday Night nightmare. This song is meant to release tension and it embodies the best kind of hopeful: the narrator doesn’t believe that dancing on her own is the equivalent of a “doing better” post-breakup Facebook pic. Dancing on her own is what she can do, so damn right she’s going to bust a move.
